George D. Zafiris

Massapequa Park, NY - George D. Zafiris, 84, passed away on October 27, 2023. He was born on January 17, 1939, in Corinth, Greece, to the late Katina Eleni Zafiris and Demetrios Zafiris.

George was a kind, generous, and friendly man who cherished his family above all else. He had a passion for golf and woodworking, hobbies that brought him great joy throughout his life. An avid golfer, George spent many hours on the golf course, honing his skills and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. In his free time, he could often be found in his workshop, crafting beautiful pieces of woodwork.

Following his military service in the Greek National Air Force from 1959 to 1963, George married his wife Joannah, and embarked on a successful career as a Telephone Installer with NY Telephone/Verizon. His dedication and expertise in his field earned him the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of his clients.

George is survived by his loving wife, Joannah Zafiris; his daughters, Nicole Zafiris and Katherine Heintz (Erik Heintz); and his granddaughter, Maxine Heintz. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service to mark 40 days will be held on December 17, 2023, at 9am at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, located at 110 Cathedral Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550. All family and friends are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
