Georgia Alice Colquitt Gee, age 85, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, after a very brief illness, and only 11 days prior to her 86th birthday. Georgia was born to the late William House “Bill” and Christine Mathews Colquitt in Crawford, GA, on November 1, 1936. She lived through many hours of chemotherapy, resulting from two devastating episodes of breast cancer, and she felt that God had other plans for her because he had left her on earth after those battles with cancer.
Mrs. Gee was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert LaRoy Gee, in January, 2011. She was also preceded by her older sister, Betty Colquitt Barton; a special nephew, Bobby Boyles and a special great-niece, Kami Boyles, who were both 8 years old at the time of their death; brothers-in-law, Dewey Barton, Bob Boyles and Joe Williams.
After graduating from Oglethorpe County High School in 1954, Georgia went to Atlanta in search of a fulltime job and began employment with Equitable Life Assurance Society where she remained a faithful employee for many, many years. She remained close friends with a large number of co-workers, and she kept in contact with even more of them. Georgia loved our Lord and Savior with all her being. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Morrow, serving on several committees and working in their food pantry until she began having physical issues and breathing problems. She loved her family, her Church, her country, but most of all she loved our God. After a fall which injured her pelvis, she located to The Retreat at Loganville in the assisted living area. She found purpose and great joy in life while at “The Retreat”, developed many close friendships and attended Chapel services three times a week. She was a compassionate servant to those who needed assistance or just needed someone to listen to them.
She is survived by her younger sister, Sandra Colquitt Lack (Bill), Asheville, NC; niece, Kris Barton Gower (Darrel), Loganville, GA; nephew, Kevin Boyles (Crissy), Jesup, GA; great-nieces, Kelsey Gower, Forsyth, GA; Reagan Gower and Rose Gower, both of Loganville; Megan Boyles, Jesup; and nephew, Brody Boyles, Jesup. Several first cousins and many second cousins also survive her.
Services will be held at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11:00 am. Rev. David Tew will be officiating. Interment will follow at Butler Memorial Cemetery, 31 Cedar St., Butler, Ga 31006. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home prior to service beginning at 10:00 am.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, https://donate3.cancer.org/?campaign=default_test&lang=en&_ga=2.67936213.591901378.1666639579-1386903920.1666639579 or First Baptist Church of Morrow, 1647 Lake Harbin Rd, Morrow, GA 30260.

She was a kind hearted person. She was my mom (Betty Lewis) best friend. Mom misses her. She says I go to call her and then she remembers Georgia is in heaven with my dad (Roy Lewis) and my husband (Ernest Turner). We look forward to joining them in heaven. Georgia I still have the cat ashtray you gave me. Living you till we meet again.

Ms. Georgia was a special friend to us in Butler, GA. She and husband LaRoy, had hired our son to cut the grass
at his home place in Butler. He cut it for several of his teenage years. They would visit with us from time to time. After Mr. Gee's passing, she would stop by and sometimes eat with us. We always enjoyed her visits. She & I had many phone calls through the years. We visited her at her home once. I spoke with her about 3 weeks before her death. A neighbor (Edwin Allen) stopped by to tell me of her passing. I so wanted to attend her funeral, but got really sick a few day before she was brought to Butler for internment. I didn't know how to reach out to her sister or neice. I truly miss her and our phone chats together. She was a fine Christian lady. I am just now finding the obituary and think of her often. May she rest in peace. Sincerely, Joy Albritton

Georgia was such a sweet friend. I only knew her for short part of her life, but enjoyed the time I did know her. I loved her beautiful smile. I know she is smiling in Heaven now and we will see her again one day.

This was a blessing to me and my husband as she attended our church at Valley Hill. We were there for 15 years and my husband became sick with Alzheimer's and had to step down. She was a loving and caring Saint and loved the Lord and others. Praise God you are with your Saviour and Family.love you sister
