Georgia Lea Bullock Schaefer, 73, of Orem passed away on October 2, 2006, after her third courageous battle with cancer. She is a beloved wife, mom, grandma, and teacher who will be greatly missed.
Georgia was born April 24, 1933 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Harold Harris and Lola (Robbins) Bullock. She grew up in Pleasant Grove. Valedictorian of her high school graduating class, she had a lifelong love of learning.
Georgia married her sweetheart Donald George Schaefer on June 3, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their married years in Springville and Orem. Together they enjoyed playing in the Utah Valley Symphony for 25 years with Georgia playing the violin.
Georgia taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 23 years in Springville, Santaquin and at Vineyard Elementary in Orem. She loved and inspired many children.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Georgia served in various callings throughout her life including Primary President, Stake Missionary, Family History Center Missionary at BYU and most recently as a Senior Missionary with her husband in the Tokyo Shibuya Mission. She will be remembered for her testimony and her faith.
Georgia is survived by her husband Don, children: Mark (Laurie) Schaefer, Lehi; Marnae (Todd) Ballantyne, American Fork; David (Heather) Schaefer, Queen Creek, AZ; Sharolyn (Mark) Wilkinson, Gilbert, AZ; her brothers: Harold R, Brent and Lynn Bullock. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joyce Loveland. Her 23 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter will miss her terribly.
Georgia will be remembered for her love of flowers, beautiful music, good books, and her excitement in traveling to new places with her husband Don. She will be remembered for the courageous non-complaining way she faced the many, many health trials in her life. But most of all she will be remembered for her constant self-sacrificing love and service toward her family and friends and for her many efforts to strengthen and unite her family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunset Heights Stake Center, 1260 South 400 West, Orem. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Dear Schaefer family,

If I am correct,Georgia and I were roomates with many other girls in the old Warnick House at the foot of BYU in 1954-55. I was from Nevada, moved to California to finish school & married in Calif and spent the last 35 years in Springville. I am so sorry that our paths didn't cross again so that we could become re-acquainted. It appears she continued to grow into an even more delightful woman and it is my loss that I didn't know her again. I am now in New Zealand where my sweetheart and I are serving a mission. May our Father in Heaven bless you all. SisterBarrus

Marnae and family:

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's death. When you all moved next door to us in Orem in the 70's, it was my introduction to your family and your mom. I will always remember her as a kind and gentle woman, as a talented violinist, and as the mom who let us make no-bake cookies and "sheet cake" (I didn't even know what that was) any time we asked. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Anyone who could resemble in appearance and the saintly glow of our beloved Aunt Lola must truly be one of Heavenly Fathers choicest daughters. The reunion in heaven must be one for the ages, or should I say: for the eternities.
With deepest sympathy.

Brent, and all the family: I am saddened by the loss of your sister, wife, mother and grandmother. I remember Brent speaking often of how courageous she was through her long and difficult battles with her illness. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Don and famiy, We were so saddened by the news of Georgia's passing. What a true example of Christ like love and service she was. She has left us all a little better by knowing her. Our family's deepest heartfelt sympathy to you all.

I remember third grade at Santaquin very well. I have also said my favorite teacher was Mrs. Schaefer. She brought her violin to school and let each of her students hold it and try to play it. She was a very patient, gentle teacher. When I started working in the lunch room at Payson High school I was pleasantly surprised to find Mr Schaefer there as the librarian. My sympathies are with the family.
