Georgianna Borchardt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 2, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgianna Bell Borchardt on November 2, 2024, in Roseville, IL. Born on January 7, 1947, in Blue Island, IL, she lived a life filled with creativity, love, and dedication. Affectionately known as Pordie to those who knew her best, she brought joy and inspiration to everyone around her.

She is survived by her son, Josh Humphries, and his wife Erin of Bloomington, IL, along with her granddaughters, Mikaila, Ellery, and Etta. Her daughter, Amy Gamble, of Ocean Springs, MS, is married to Jason Gamble. Amy's sons, Andrew Yount and Matthew Yount, and his wife Gabriela, also survive her. Georgie recently celebrated the births of her first great-grandchildren: Allison, born to Matthew and Gabriela, and Maleah, born to Mikaila. She is also survived by her brother, Msgt Thomas Kaye, Ret., of Jacksonville, FL.

Georgie was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Borchardt, and her parents, Luella and Walter Kocin. Her Christian faith was central to her life, and her family finds peace knowing she is now home with Jesus.

A passionate lover of the arts, Georgie found joy in painting, drawing, theater, and musicals. Her deep affection for animals was embodied by her beloved cats, Coco and Tommy, who brought her great comfort and companionship. Among her many achievements, she took special pride in earning her Master's degree from Arkansas State University.

Her warmth, artistic spirit, devotion to her family, and enduring faith will be cherished always.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Illinois Art Station in Normal, IL.

Kathie Parker

November 4, 2024

My name is Kathie Parker. I moved from Washington State in 2012 to Northern Wisconsin after my dad died to help take care of my mom and go to school. I was 54 years old.
It was during this time that Pordie and I hooked up on Facebook, and almost right way she and I were chatting almost every day. She helped me through many tears, anger, frustration, and joy. She was with me through school, my brother's death, my marriage, and so, so much more. We shared our belief in the Lord, and prayer and talking about Jesus was a topic of conversation often.
I was there for her trials with her kitties and her frustrations and sadness as well.
I cried and cried, and my mother pointed out to me that she went home and is now with everyone she was missing and is out of pain. I know I am crying for me and the fact that I will miss her greatly. we also did a lot of laughing and I look forward to seeing her greet me when it's my turn. I love you Pordie. You will be missed here. xxxooo
