GERALD MARSHALL ANDERSON
Gerald "Jerry" Anderson, 80, passed away on the 26th of March, 2017 at Avamere at Pacific Ridge in Tacoma, Washington. He was born on October 15, 1936 in Frankfort, Kentucky to Wilburn and Georgia (Sutton Shryock) Anderson.

Gerald grew up on various farms in Franklin and Woodford Counties in Kentucky. He ran track, and played guard on the Elkhorn High School football team in Frankfort, Kentucky where he graduated in 1956. After high school he:

• attended college at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky where he received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Bible and a minor in Sociology.

• joined the Army Reserves in 1955 and served his country for eight years, but the only action he saw was peeling potatoes when he got into trouble.

• began work for the Social Security Administration in 1961 as a Social Worker where he worked until he retired 27 years later.

• began his second career working for the State of Washington in various positions until he retired permanently in 2001.

Gerald married Patsy Lane Lippert at a small country church in 1958 in Duckers, Kentucky. They were happily married for 58 years. Gerald was a member of several different Baptist Churches, where he served as a Deacon and boys club leader. He attended and served most recently at Westwood Baptist Church in Olympia, Washington.

He enjoyed hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, and building an ultra-light airplane. Gerald's true passion in life was exploring. He lived in six different states and visited numerous countries around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Norway, Finland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, England, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, Mexico, and many more.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Anderson; mother, Georgia Anderson; and his brothers, Lawrence Anderson, and James Anderson.

Gerald is survived by his wife Patsy Anderson of Tumwater, WA; his sons Steve Anderson of Terrebonne, OR; Bruce (Angela) Anderson of San Diego, CA; Calvin Devereaux (AKA David Anderson) of North Hills, CA; his daughter Amzeah (AKA Amy Anderson) of Seattle, WA; his brother William "Bill" (Mary Louise) Anderson of Austin, TX; his sister Dixie Stewart of Frankfort, KY; his grandchildren Alyssa Anderson, Raelyn Anderson, Kai-Zen Devereaux, Hudson Anderson, Elliot Anderson; his nephew Barry Anderson; his niece Vickie Regan, and other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at Mills and Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA 98512 at 4:00PM, April 7th, 2017. The family will be greeting friends and relatives immediately following the service.
