Gerald DENENFELD Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2003.
DENENFELD _ Gerald John. 1943-2003 Gerald (Gerry) John, age 60, passed away peacefully with family and friends close by on Saturday November 1, 2003. Gerald will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his best friend and wife Karen; children, John, Lisa Large (James) and Tanya Lithgow (Angus); his 7 grandchildren; and brother Harold (Carmel) and family. Also mourning Gerry's passing are aunty Marlene and uncle Cecil Beasley, cousin Don McMillan (Shirley); and many more cousins, nephews and nieces scattered across Canada and who despite the distance manage to always stay in touch. Gerald valued family above all else and was a caring, wise and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Gerry also gave generously of his time and counsel to many in the industry that was his passion for over 35 years. Active on many levels of organized real estate both locally and nationally, Gerry served as a director on the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board, Commercial Division for many years and most recently as the Chair of the National Commercial Council (2002). Gerry never let his tenacious battle with cancer prevent him from enjoying life earning (honestly!) the longest drive in the last golf tournament he played this past summer. Predeceased by his parents Leon Denenfeld and Lynn Poirier; his infant son Roger; his older brother Roger; and several uncles and aunts. Special thanks to Drs. Albert Ho-Yee, Jack Amar, Lynda Vickars, Daphne Lobb and Aleco Alexiadis, nurses Ella, Karen, Dympnia, and the entire team at St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit for their professional and compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St John the Apostle Church, 5457 Trafalgar St., Vancouver on Thursday November 6, 2003 at 11:00 AM, followed by a brief reception. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Chapel Grove. A Celebration of Gerald's Life will be held at the Vancouver Club, 915 West Hastings Street, Vancouver on November 13th 2003.
