Gerald R Dizon

Gerald R. Dizon, age 66, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27, 2012 while doing something he loved.

Gerry was born Oct. 21, 1946 in Alaminos, Pangasinan Philippines to Elena Gonzalez. The eldest of eight children, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966 and served his country proudly and honorably for 30 years to follow. Gerry retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer, the highest rank an enlisted sailor can achieve, having earned numerous medals and meritorious accolades to his name. He spent the last ten years working in government service, happily approaching his dream of a long-awaited retirement.

An avid hunter and passionate about the outdoors, Gerry spent many wonderful summers backpacking the Olympics and cycling throughout Washington state with his wife of 32 years whom he adored. Putting nothing in life above his family, perhaps his greatest joy came from spending time with them. He made holidays unforgettable, vacations irreplaceable, and time with loved ones something remarkable. His limitless generosity set his family apart and held true to the purest form of sometimes lost value and tradition. Gerry's family is his gift and his legacy.

Those who knew him will remember his kindness, charisma, and the true joy he found in every aspect of life. Those who knew him well will remember him as even more; a devoted husband, a loving father, an altruistic and unrivaled friend.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Gale; his son, Chris, and daughters Kimberly and Jessica.

A military service with honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2012 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.
