Gerry gave his life working to enhance the lives of others! There was never an issue too big, or too small, for him to do what was necessary to find a solution for it!
So many county officials from all over the country have felt honored to be able to call him " my friend, Gerry".

He truly had a gentle spirit and was always grateful for any assistance he received. It was a privilege to care for him. May he find peace, and my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

He was such an independent individual
I had the opportunity to care for him while he was in the Hospital

Twice Gerry said to me, "I am happy when I am helping someone," or words to that effect. How happy he must be. A remarkable man. He was not naive.

I did not know Gerry Hyland, but as a resident of the Mount Vernon community I appreciate his dedication, hard work and many contributions on behalf of the community, and his service to our country.
His avuncular personality and many achievements will long be remembered.
With sympathy to his daughter Gigi and family.
May his memory be a blessing.
Sincerely,
Linda Ely

A true gentleman who was a difference maker throughout his life and career. It was an honor for me to serve with Gerry on the BOS and call him friend. My sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him or benefited from his work and commitment to his community. RIP
