Naples - Gerald (Jerry) Ralph Powers, 88 of Anniston Alabama died peacefully after a blessed and full life in Naples, Florida on September 7, 2025. Jerry attended Sewanee Military Academy and Vanderbilt University ('59) as a Phi Delta Theta fraternal member. He worked at the Jacksonville Paper Co, Merrill Lynch in Tampa and Lakeland for 36 years, and at Hansberger Global Investors in Fort Lauderdale and also spent several years living and working in Sydney, Australia though primarily was a Florida resident most of his life. He loved his family, traveling the world, and had many close friendships as well as a good sense of humor throughout his adventurous life. Jerry was a devout G.O.P. Republican as well as a Christian. At different times in his life, he practiced his faith at the Episcopalian and Greek Orthodox Churches.

He is survived by his former spouse, Sandra Swann Zumstein (86) of Naples, and his children Terri Powers Hensley (62) of Tampa, Gerald (Jay) Ralph Powers, Jr. (60) of Salem, South Carolina, Andrew (Amy) Swann Powers (57) of Fort Lauderdale, and Bradley Baxter Powers (55) of Naples as well as grandchildren Joseph, Stephen, and Sarah Hensley & Ian and Andrew C. Powers.

Celebrations of Life gatherings will be in Anniston, Alabama and Naples, Florida with dates forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, all are encouraged to donate to the church and resting place: Union United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 206, Wellington, Alabama 36279.
