FAIRHAVEN — Gerald Oscar Lariviere, 70, of Fairhaven, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008. He was the husband of Judith A. (Dahill) Lariviere; they had been married for 47 years.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Oscar A. and Dora M. (Doyle) Lariviere, he lived in Darien, CT for 20 years before returning home to the New Bedford area in the 1980's. His father owned Lariviere Pharmacy on Cottage St. He attended Holy Name School, Monsignor Coyle High School, and New Bedford Textile Institute.

Jerry was employed in the textile industry for 43 years.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Martha Rice of Cambridge, Amy Kogen of Deerfield, IL, Gerald "Jay" Lariviere, Jr., of Assonet, and Daniel Lariviere of Fairhaven; a brother, Paul J. Lariviere and his wife, Jackie, of Fairhaven; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
