Gerald Morgan Becker, "Jerry", passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on June 20th, 2024 at age 95, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Jerry was born to his loving parents, Nicholas and Bernice (Geisert) Becker on December 17, 1928, in Tacoma Washington, Jerry grew up in Tacoma and attended Puyallup High School. He grew up with a passion for Jazz and taught himself to play the drums, leading to his involvement in various bands and traveling performances. After serving in the military and attending beauty school, he became a hairdresser where he met and later married Beatrice "Bea" (McGlothlen) Becker on December 6, 1958.

Together they opened their own beauty salon in downtown Seattle where they worked and lived before moving back to Tacoma to start a family.

Jerry was always interested in Art, winning his first award in elementary school. Jerry's passing is a sad loss not only to his family but to the art family. He was always gracious and willing to share his thoughts of art and his paintings. He and Bea graciously invited my wife and me into their home to view his art. He expressed a positive view of life even when describing his struggle with cancer. I always looked for his whiskey paintings in the Whiskey Painters of America shows. Jerry's paintings will be missed and he will be missed most of all. Barbara and I extend our heartfelt condolences to Bea and family for their loss. Our prayers are with you.

Jerry was a friend of my parents, Millie and Clausin Strickler. Dad framed a lot of his paintings. Jerry was such a nice person and I enjoyed his artwork immensely! We were talking about music one time and he told me that all you need is the music. Lyrics were unnecessary. My sympathy goes to Bea and all of his family. I know how sad they must be. You're all in my prayers. Sincerely, Ann Strickler

Jerry's stunning art space in the SAAG Gallery has always been a showstopper. His landscapes evoke beauty, awe and respite. He inspired other artists, not only for his artistic skill but with his joyful and gracious personality. The walls of heaven have become more resplendent with Jerry's arrival.
