The Novato Historical Guild expresses their condolences to the family of Gerald Reese. We are grateful for the gift of the horse drawn buggy that is on display at the Novato History Museum. Gerald Reese
restored the horse drawn buggy before donating it to the museum.

Working with Jerry was always a pleasure. He was a great support and mentor. Jerry brought equal measures of compassion, experience, and humor to any situation. He certainly left the world a better place and will be greatly missed.

I met with Jerry when foster youth with special Ed needs were in the Novato district. There was never a situation, no matter how tense, where Jerry’s inherent kindness and gentle nature could not make everyone feel calmer, heard, and valued. He offered folksy stories, about restoring the buggy for example, and always made me smile.

While a student at Novato High School I took Mechanical Drawing/Drafting from Mr. Reese in 1962 and 1963. He made an impression that is with me today as being a caring, very competent teacher who could be stern if required or tell a funny joke. I'm sure he will be missed by thousands of folks that he connected with over the years. RIP...
