Gerald Strobel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10, 2017.
Gerald "Jerry" Strobel, 72

Gerald "Jerry" Strobel, age 72, of Yellville, AR passed away peacefully at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas on Friday, October 27, 2017. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Fred and Ester (Blumhardt) Strobel on December 17, 1944. Jerry spent most of his adult life in and around the Mountain Home area with his loving wife, Theresa, by his side.

As an area pastor for more than forty years, Jerry was instrumental in the groundbreaking of the first Christian school in the north Arkansas area. Later in his ministry, he was responsible for implementing Character First into the local schools, and area businesses. As a prominent leader within the elderly community, Jerry served faithfully as a board member for various civic organizations. Under his leadership as the District Governor of the Lions Club, record-setting growth was achieved. As Area Coordinator for Samaritans Purse - Operation Christmas Child grew in proportion to his love, his dedication to the children, and the organization itself.

Those who knew Jerry would note his greatest contribution and sincerest desire was to lead others to Christ by often asking the simple question "Are you a believer?". He listened intently and always left those he spoke with encouraged, with a thoughtful and heartfelt "Thank You!".

Jerry was preceded in death by his infant son Jacob, as well as his parents, Fred and Esther Strobel. He is survived in life by his wife, sisters, children, grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church in Mountain Home, AR with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Samaritans Purse-Operation Christmas Child, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or online at www.samaritanspurse.org.

Arrangements are by Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center. An online guestbook and obituary are available at www.connerfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Jerry was a great man. I worked with him at Good Samaritan. He married me and my late husband. He also officiated at my husband's funeral. I know he loved his family very much and will be missed by everyone.
