Geraldine (Gerry) Hannigan

Geraldine (Gerry) Lorraine Hannigan (nee Zable), age 96, passed away peacefully September 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Hannigan by just one day. She was a devout Catholic, attending mass at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, Tennessee. She was very involved in her church serving as Eucharistic Minister and endlessly volunteered for numerous duties.

Her parents, Bertha Rimkus and John Zable, were Lithuanian immigrants. Gerry was the middle child of three. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Zable of Chicago, IL and was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Zable of Mountain Home, AR. She worked for Chicago and Southern Airlines. She was also a travel agent for Gelco Travel.

She was married nearly 70 years to the love of her life, Frank Hannigan, and together they had four children. Nancy Cutting (Michael), Carole Hannigan (David Lockhart), Patricia Hudson (Richard), and Michael Hannigan (Rebecca). They had eight grandchildren Jennifer McGuire, Candice Snowden, Natalie, & Michael Cutting, Kaitlin Hudson-Mott, Bailey Himes, Keegan Hudson, and Reilly Hannigan. They also had six great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 2 at St. Philips the Apostle Catholic Church located at 11710 US-64, Somerville, TN 38068. Visitation begins at 9:30 am, Rosary at 10:30 am, Memorial Mass at 11:00 am.
