Robert E. "Eddie" Tharp

New Paris, OH - Robert E. "Eddie" Tharp, age 88, of New Paris, OH, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Born on May 4, 1930 in Morning Sun, OH, son of the late Robert & Sallie Mae (Friend) Tharp. A 1948 graduate of Camden High School. Eddie proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 from Conrail Railroad as a Trackman & Truckdriver for 20 years. Member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Paris, OH. Former member of the New Paris Kiwanis Club.

Preceded by his Brothers & Sisters, William Marshal Tharp, Margaret Pearl Kalugyer, Virginia Dawson Beach, Alice Ruth Gibbs, James Leon Tharp and Mary Louise Bradway.

Survived by his Wife of 61 years: Ada Myarl (Spears) Tharp; Daughters, Rose (Dennis Landrum) Charnell, Karen (Dee) Cortner, Brenda Kay (Clayton) Hampton; Brothers & Sisters, Bessie Rosetta Poock and Clara Belle Baker; Grandchildren, Robert John Mertz, James Scott (Candace) Mertz, Thomas Lee Mertz, Sasha Cortner, Brandon (Megan) Belcher, Heather Belcher, Dennis (Amanda) Landrum II, Crystal (Zachary) Kipple, Chris (James) Byrd and Joni (Ramon) Rutan; 21 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main Street, New Paris, OH with Rev. Jeff Ginter and Rev. Steve Whalen officiating. Interment will be held at Springlawn Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Memorial Contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation, Attention Teresa Adair, 10810 East 45th Street, Suite 300, Tulsa, OK 74146.
