Gerard Wichelns, Jr. Obituary
Rod dedicated much of his time to The Way Station in Frederick, MD, a place he visited daily, fostering a community of friends and acquaintances who will dearly miss his presence.
Rod is survived by his siblings, Dennis G. Wichelns, Kathleen A. Rose, Michael J. Wichelns, Christopher J. Wichelns, and Matthew P. Wichelns. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard F. Wichelns, Sr. and Patricia A. Wichelns, and his brother, Stephen T. Wichelns.
A family-only service will be held in the near future to honor Rod's life and legacy. Thibadeau Mortuary Service in Gaithersburg, MD, is assisting the family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shepherd Pratt / Way Station in Frederick, MD, in memory of Rod, reflecting his commitment to the community he cherished dearly.

Our family will miss you, Rod. You spent 23 years with my mother Audrey Whipp, being her best friend and partner. She misses you very much because you truly loved her and took care of her. I spoke with you a lot on the phone, and it was so nice talking with you. You sent Christmas and birthday cards to me. The times we went out to eat together were very nice. You always asked how my pets were doing, which was very sweet. I hope your family knows what a difference you made in my mother's life.

Rod your sense of humor and laugh at a good joke will surely be missed. one of my fondest memories of you is all the times we use to play gin rummy when you would come home for a visit.
