It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Gernot Hans - Joachim Trieglaff, known to his family as "Papa". Gernot was born on the island of Rügen, Germany on February 14, 1937 and enjoyed the majority of his working career in Canada, as a project superintendent for PCL Constructors, contributing to many iconic structures in Metro Vancouver and beyond. Prior to starting with PCL, Gernot enjoyed many years travelling internationally for different projects, including South Africa (Ghana), Switzerland, Germany, Abu Dhabi, Whitehorse and Logan Lake.
Gernot had a wonderful life and enjoyed spending his time gardening and visiting with family at the home which he built with his team, in Boundary Bay in Tsawwassen (Delta), BC. He enjoyed long walks during low tide on Centennial Beach and chatting and visiting with his neighbours. Gernot loved to travel and visited many countries all over Europe. He spent several weeks of the year enjoying the beaches in Nuevo Vallarta, MX where many fond memories were made with friends and family.
Gernot was predeceased by his mother Paula and father Paul of Germany. He is survived by his loving wife Pauline, married for 42 years, along with his sister Ingrid (Guenter) of Germany.
Gernot was an amazing step-father and is survived by Mark, Vicki (Barry), Coleen, Nicki (Trevor) and Simon (Donna) whom he loved as if they were his own children. He is also survived by nine grand-children, two great grandchildren, and his best friend Peter Will of 50+ years.
Gernot was loved and admired deeply and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A private celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

I worked with Gernot on many PCL projects and had a close working relationsip with him and am so sorry to learn of his passing. Sending my sincere condolences to Pauline and family.

My deepest condolences in the passing of Gernot . I always enjoyed my conversations with him and he was a lovely man. He will be so missed as he was so full of Life and I can't believe he is not with us anymore .

Dearest Gernot,
How apt to read you were born on Valentine's Day, you really were full of love and smiles! Such lovely memories of meeting you with Pauline, here in Hove with Betty and the Hardings...
You were such a positive soul, with such a rare sense of humanity and I'll never forget the attention you paid my silly, creative projects! So thoughtful and interested in everything, full of heart and soul. Talking to you about film, music and culture was just wonderful! I shall never forget those lovely conversations.
My condolences, love and respect to the family, Pauline especially. Thinking of you and sending strength to all.
You shall always be missed Gernot!

The Hardings have so many wonderful, happy memories from over the years of dear Gernot.
My personal recent special memory being Mexico and our daily long chats whilst 'marching' along the beautiful beach in PV. Perfect, blissful times.
