HANNA _ Gertrude (Trudy) 1927 - 2003 Mrs. Gertrude (Trudy) Hanna, beloved wife of Mr. Ward Hanna of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 15, 2003 following a brief struggle with cancer, at the age of 75 years. Trudy was born and raised on the family farm in Fallis, AB. She married Ward in Edmonton on September 3, 1949. Because of Ward's involvement in the Air Force, Trudy and Ward moved frequently across Canada. No matter where they were, Trudy always made a home for her family. They finally settled in Calgary in 1963. Trudy was a lady of grace. Her strong character was an anchor to all in the family. For nineteen years, she served at Woodward's (Chinook) in the Paint, Wallpaper and Decorating department, making many special bonds with staff and customers alike. Trudy also enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. Her work with both were always of the finest quality. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family. Besides her loving husband Ward, Trudy is survived by, a son and daughter-in-law, Terrance and Linda; a daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Neal Sunderland; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Cameron, Daniel, Marvin and Neal Sunderland, Kim Bailey, and Dara Lee Cole; and four great-grandchildren, Brendan and Kennedy Bailey, and Evan and Cassidy Cole. She is also survived by three sisters, Erna Wood, Hilda Bamber, and Lil Welsh. Trudy was predeceased by two stepsisters, Freida and Hedwich; and a stepbrother, Kurt. Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Calgary Alberta Stake (2021 - 17 Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Allan Smith officiating.
