Trudi was great fun. She worked hard and always had a kind word, a smile, and a recipe or two to share. I loved working with her. She'll be missed but never forgotten. I hope you'll find comfort during this difficult time remembering all the laughter and wonderful memories you shared. ~CinDee Herndon

I felt such affection for Trudi the years we worked together at Hillcrest. She was so kind, fun, bright, and a joy to be around. And she had such a great mind. She will be missed so much by those who knew and loved her.

Trudi was so strong and believed so strongly in her own family, in educating children, in life and living. I was fortunate to have Trudi as principal while I was counselor at Mt. Pilchuck; I always told people how lucky I was to work with someone who shared a similar philosophy, who had a vision of what she wanted the school to be, and who cared so much about me and those she worked with. She used to insist I go take my lunch on our busiest days-later I would discover hers was still uneaten. I joked in a recent email to her that I wanted to come work with her so I could slip her an energy bars between meetings. I will miss having the chance to spend time with her again; she is someone I had hoped to have a long friendship with-a friend and a mentor. Her voice will stay inside me and continue to help me on my way.
My sympathy to Rob, Sarah, Matt, the twins and all her family and loved ones.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Trudi's passing. She was a wonderful human being and we certainly enjoyed some marvelous times at Lowell Elementary in Missoula. She certainly touched the lives of many children but also those of us fortunate enough to call her friend. Our prayers and warm wishes go out to her family.

Trudi was my best friend throughout high school. We shared so much laughter and tears, adventures, secrets, love, drama, ski trips, midnight treks never to be forgotten. I will miss True so so much. Although the miles stretched between our adult lives, she was always in my heart. I am so glad we were able to reconnect in recent years, and that I saw her two wonderful times last summer. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family, love to you all, she was a treasure.
Trudi as I most remember her -- My best high school friend!

Trudi was a dear friend as well as my boss. I have known Trudi since my son was in her first grade class at Hillcrest. We have worked together on many committees together including PTA, School District projects, and she eventually became my boss while at Mt Pilchuck Elementary School. Trudi even came to my mother's and my son's memorial service, which meant the world to me. She is a very special lady, so sincere and kind to everyone. Her uplifting notes of encouragement and gratitude will always be remembered. I will miss her greatly. My heart goes out to Rob and family. God Bless you and your memories.

Rob, and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Today the memories of Trudy and our time together here in Missoula came flooding back. She was such a nice person. I remember our times at the lake and the fun times we had. God Bless.

I treasure the memory of my brief acquaintance with Trudi . My heart and prayers go out to those who were privileged to know this great lady better than I did. I can only begin to imagine the depth of your grief and the magnitude of your loss. With love and respect,

Mrs. Spierling was my first grade teacher at Hillcrest. I remember getting these really cool velcro shoes that light up in the heel when I walked. She absolutely hated the sound of velcro! When we sat down for story time I was playing with my shoes velcro, un-velcro, velcro, un-velcro.... she stopped reading and said, "Tim, if you un-velcro your shoes one more time I think I will have to scream!" So I did. :) She screamed so high pitch that we all had to cover our ears. Everyone was laughing until she took me out in the hall and called my MOM. I never saw her without a smile on her face regardless of how she was feeling though. She was one of a kind, and will be missed.

Trudi was such a caring and honorable leader at Mt. Pilchuck. I was fortunate to have worked with Trudi for four years and know that she had the highest expectations of staff and students. Our school "family" was second only to her personal family. My deepest sympathy goes to Trudi's family. Kathie Murphy, Arlington

To the family of Mrs. Spierling, we are very sorry for your loss and pray for comfort for your family. My son attends Highland Elementary and recently, and I while fortunate or unfortunate I had many conversations with her via email and by phone. She was definately an advocate for my son and providing a positive learning environment for our children. It was first and foremost of importance. I am grateful that she was there for us during our time of need and I pray that God will be there during your time of need as well.
