Giacomo Carpinelli Obituary

CARPINELLI Giacomo G. Carpinelli Plant supervisor and machinist Married 50 years, 74 Giacomo G. Carpinelli, 74, of Verona died peacefully late Monday night, Oct. 16, 2006, just three days short of his 75th birthday. Visiting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Verona at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, with entombment services immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Born on Oct. 19, 1931, in the small town of Bisaccia, Italy, in the province of Avellino, to Nicolina Santoli and Antonio Carpinelli, Mr. Carpinelli lived a full and happy live. He immigrated to the U.S., and to Newark, in 1951, at age 19, and met his wife of 50 years, Consiglia Amato, at night school, where they were both studying English. Married on Jan. 15, 1956, they had four children. Mr. Carpinelli worked as a plant supervisor for Speer Optical in South Orange for 22 years and then as a machinist for Merimac of Fairfield for the next 15 years before retiring. He was a car enthusiast, a soccer fan (and referee), an avid walker and helped many neighbors, friends, and family with household electrical projects. Mr. Carpinelli is survived by his devoted wife, Consiglia Carpinelli of Verona; daughter, Nicolina Carpinelli; sons, Anthony, Giuseppe (Joseph) and Gerardo Giacomo Jr. (Gerry); four grandchildren, Sarah Evans, 19, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Giancarlo Giacomo Carpinelli, three and a half years, of Verona, Valentina Patrizia Carpinelli, 13 months, of Cedar Grove, and Anna Elisa, 10 months, of Verona; his sister, Gina Rossi of Linden, and sisters, Sophia Santanello of Nola, Italy and Antonietta Magliano of Bisaccia, Italy. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Verona UNICO for the Giacomo Carpinelli Memorial Scholarship, 34 Cypress Ave., Verona, N.J. 07044.
