(Sportsman)
Gilbert J. Ferran, 68, of Orem, died January 7, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 28, 1937, a son of Elias and Theodora Valdez Ferran in Lumberton, New Mexico. He married Eunice Humes on November 20, 1953, in Provo, Utah.
Gilbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Boilermakers Union Member, a little league coach in both Provo and Orem. His greatest accomplishment is a lifelong love with his sweetheart and his five children. His greatest joys in life were teaching us his love of fishing, hunting, and camping. His greatest gift was his time that he gave unselfishly to any and all unconditionally. Give our love to our angels, Aubrey and Tina - we'll miss you all.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eunice Ferran; five children: Greg (Christy) Ferran, Provo; Roland (Lori) Ferran, San Diego, CA; Dora-Kitt Slaid, Provo; Georgia (Dean) Omer, Orem; Adam (Joi) Ferran, Orem; 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his mother, Theodora Ferran; his brothers, Leo (Sue) Ferran, and John E. (LeAnn) Ferran, Robert (Susan) Ferran; his sister, Mary (Allan) Stubbs; numerous nieces and nephews and countless life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Ferran; father-in-law and friend, Floyd Humes; much loved brother, Elias Ferran; and granddaughters, Aubrey Lyn and Tina.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at 11 a.m., in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Wallsburg Town Cemetery.
Condolences may be sent to family at www.sundbergolpinmortuary.com.

Dear Theodorita and Family of Gilbert,

I wish to express my love and sympathy as you deal with your grief. My prayer is that God's compassionate love fills the void you are experiencing in your hearts by the temporary absence of Gilbert's presence; may you feel his presence...he is always with you in the many memories he leaves with you. My love and prayer is that God gives you strength and hope.

To my extended family, I send my regrets for the loss of cousin Gilbert. In his living, you were surely blessed to be apart of him, and in his dying, he will be with you eternally. With love and sympathy....

Gil..I never will forget the first day you called my home when I lived in Wyoming,to tell me about my long lost sister Eunice. You had said she was crying because you finally found me and that you too, had a tear in your eye. Well Gil, I too have a tear in my eye now, not because of found but instead lost you. You will always be remembered. Thank you Gil for bringing family together again.

To my "Barn Burning Buddy"

My memories of Gilbert are many. They are loving and precious. We were not only cousin's, but good friends also. I know he no longer suffers and I pray for his family, his mother Dora, and his brothers and sister. I hope you find peace in your hearts and we will see Gilbert again someday.

Love, Your Cousin Sylvia

In memory of my cousin, Gil, may you rest in peace and may God's perpetual light shine upon you.

To his beloved Mother, Dora, may God give you strength and courage to endure the loss of your son. To his brothers and sister, and all his children and grandchildren, remember him in "his glory" as a parent and brother. Hold him dear to your heart, and pray for his eternal rest.
