Gilbert Theiler

Gilbert F. Theiler Gilbert Frederick Theiler, age 86, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010, at his home. He was born August 4, 1924 in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen Theiler, and brother Henri M. Theiler. Gilbert was a resident of Austin since 1982 after retiring from the Exxon Baytown Refinery with 37 years of service. He served in the 15th Air force in Italy as a B-24 Bomber Mechanic. He was active in the Masonic Fraternity for 58 years. He was also a member of Hill City Lodge No.456 of Austin, Texas, Park Place Lodge No.1172 of Houston, Texas, The Austin and Houston Scottish Rite Bodies, and a member of Colorado Commandery No.4, Travis chapter No.472, OES. Gilbert was a member of the Baptist faith and a loyal husband, father, and grandfather. During Gilbert's 37 years at Exxon, he never called in sick-proving his dedication to hard work. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean, of 62 years and 10 months, sons G. Fred Theiler Jr. and daughter-in-law, Jean, of La Porte, Texas, Paul Alan Theiler and daughter-in-law, Janice, of Pearland, Texas and daughter Susan Steagall of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren Nichole and Sami Thalji, Chelsey and Jason Abt, Caylee Theiler, Hannah and Coleman Steagall, Kohlman, Lucas, and Sadie Heinrich, and great grandchildren Alyssa and Jaedyn Thalji and Aiden Abt. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at Austin Peel and Son Funeral Home, Austin, Texas, with Rev. Don Long officiating. Interment will be at the South Park Cemetery in Houston at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday with Park Place Lodge No.1172 conducting Masonic Graveside Service.
