Gillian Parsons Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 28 to Jun. 4, 2011.
Oct 31, 1943 - May 21st, 2011 Gillian May Parsons (Narang) passed away suddenly on May 21st, 2011 after a good, sunny day during which she spent time in her garden and enjoyed visits from friends. Survived by her dear partner, Leslie Dickie (Tim, Sarah, Chris), her two daughters, Tanya (Peter) and Geeta (Cameron), her grandchildren Sierra, Devinder, Asha and Delphine, her former husband Ashok Narang, her brother Michael (Odette) and many much loved family members and friends.

Born in Powell River, B.C., Gill was always a west coast girl: she loved nature and her adopted home of 40 years, Baie d'Urfé. A kind-hearted and gentle soul, Gill was also adventurous. After graduating from the U of A as a physiotherapist, she moved to Montreal. She raised her daughters with Ashok, and gave them all her love.

Gill gave back to her community by volunteering with senior citizens and the disabled. She valued the company of neighbors and appreciated her trusted friends, the "lunch ladies". In recent years, Gill and Les found a beautiful happiness together.

Gill loved her garden, flowers, animals and art, and imbued that appreciation in her daughters, for which they thank and love her. She will be missed. Gill was tired and has now gone to rest.

Memorial service at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White in Pointe Claire on June 5th. Visitation noon, service 1pm. Reception afterwards at Fritz Farm 20477 Lakeshore Rd in Baie d'Urfé. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the MS Society of Canada, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, or the Mile End Legal Clinic.

Dear Tanya and Geeta,
I am very sorry to hear the sad news about your darling mother.
Gill and I spent the last two years of school together in Victoria and we kept in touch ever after through Christmas cards and her visits to Victoria.
Gill was an exceptionally kind and thoughtful person and two moments stand out particularly in my mind.
The first was when we had just finished grade eleven and I was going away on a trip and your Mum had a surprise dinner party for me at her Aunt, Mrs. Molliett's house.
No one had ever done such an exciting thing for me and I was overwhelmed by her kindness.
The other instance was in first year University when my mother died and Gill and I were both taking the same somewhat challenging Math course. I was very touched that
in my absense from classes, she took all of the lecture notes for me.
I was always so pleased when Gill called to say that she was coming out to the coast and we enjoyed our visits and reminiscing.
All my best wishes to you both at this sad time,
Nora Clarke
