Gizella Cs-Nagy Obituary
May 10, 1930 - November 21, 2014
Gizella Cs-Nagy (Sandor) of Regina, Canada passed away peacefully Nov 21, 2014 at the age of 84 at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice.
She was born May 10, 1930 in Mezotur, Hungary - the youngest of 8 to Maria (Macsan) and Janos Sandor. Her siblings were Maria (Manci), Janos, Zsuzsanna (Zsuscsi), Iren (Piri), Ferenc, Antal, Erszebet (Mici).
She married Janos Cs-Nagy in 1950 in Mezotur and they moved to Budapest. Under difficult circumstances they left Hungary in 1956 with their oldest daughter and landed in England. They lived in temporary housing in England for a short time then finally settled in Regina, Canada. She never stopped longing for family, especially her dear mother, as it was not her choice to leave Hungary.
She worked hard in Regina and was the primary support for her 3 children before and after her divorce.
She is survived by her children Gizella (Morris) Elfenbaum, Susan (Trevor) Giles and John Nagy. She is also survived by a son-in-law from Susan's first marriage - Kent Anderson. She adored her 3 grandchildren: Lee (Caren) Gilroy, Nathan Anderson (Ashley) and Harrison Giles. She was proud to have 2 great granddaughters - Logan and Beckett Gilroy.
Her talents included cooking, baking, crocheting and knitting large pieces. She did a lot of cross-word and jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed playing cards and games. Her loves were her family, gardening, beauty in nature, all kinds of good food and coffee. She enjoyed reading and learning new things. Her sense of humor made us laugh a lot. She was kind and generous and was always ready to make sacrifices for the well-being of her children. She showed gratitude toward anyone who helped her. Chances are if you were one of those people she made something for you - chicken paprikas, cookies or a scarf maybe.
Thank you to nurses and staff at Wascana Grace Hospice and Pasqua Palliative Care who took such good care of her. She loved all of you.
At her request there will be no funeral. Her ashes will be sprinkled over her mother's grave in Vilonya, Hungary. Messages and condolences can be left for the family at www.victoriaavenuefuneral.com
