Gladys Baez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2014.
Gladys "Mami" Baez was born September 13, 1928 in Yauco, Puerto Rico to Rafael Baez and Amelia Camacho. She went to be with her Lord on October 3, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. Mami was a devoted mother to not only her children but to everyone who knew her. She was a prayer warrior, constantly praying for others. Everyone knew if they were hungry they could always go to "Baez Kitchen", she always had food to offer to everyone day or night. Not only was she hospitable, but she would never hesitate to give the shirt off her back to those who needed it, always thinking of others. "Baez Hospital" was also in business, she was the family's ultimate caregiver, doctor, and nurse, truly a nurturing woman. All four generations will miss her greatly, as they all would go to her seeking advice and comfort in her loving arms and most importantly her remarkable Puerto Rican cooking. In her loving words remember "Siempre ay que tartar a todos con amabilidad ya que nunca sabes lo que pueden estar pasando." She was preceded in death by: her children, two twin girls and, Elvin Ruiz. Those left to cherish her memory: children, Julio Ruiz, Jose Ruiz, Nelida Rodriguez, Manuel Ruiz, Luis Ruiz, Hector Ruiz, Norma Ruiz, and Angel Ruiz; 29 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; amongst numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will take place at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home Monday, October 6, 2014 from 5 pm to 9 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm. Funeral Service will take place Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11 am at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.

Mami, I miss you so much!!! Thank you for being a great example of Christ's love. For always praying for me, for inspiring me, and for being you… My beautiful grandma; a woman of great admiration whom everyone loved. She was cherished by many, a woman of great faith, love and compassion who practiced what she believed in. A woman of virtue and honor. When someone was in need not only would she commit to pray for them, but she would also invite them in - cook a meal and lend them an ear... Those who entered in and knew her were blessed! My grandmother - a generous, loving woman who not only loved God with all of her heart but loved other's as well. That's the woman I aspire to become! And the legacy I will follow! Grandma you will be forever missed! Forever in our hearts! Until we meet again...!!!
