Gladys F. Gentit, 95, of Crossville where she resided for the past three years prior to moving from Stryker, OH, passed away Oct. 1, 2007, at Cumberland Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Oct. 6 from Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, Ohio. The Rev. Ernest Belella officiating. Interment followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Stryker, Ohio.

Mrs. Gentit was born born Aug. 26, 1912, in Middlepoint Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late William E. and Venus S. (Murphy) Wollet.

She was a 1930 Stryker High School graduate. She married Verle F. Gentit on Aug. 3, 1935, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1999. Gladys was employed as office manager of Stryker Tile Company, Williams Clinic, Stryker, in the office, and at Quadco, Stryker, Ohio as a bookkeeper and in administration retiring in 1977.

She was a American Red Cross volunteer, past president of Williams County Health Board and member from 1958-1983, Stryker Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and served as secretary/treasurer and awarded the Outstanding Citizen of the year in 1977, member of the Business and Professional Women and president of the Ohio Northwest Section in 1964-1965 and charter member of the Archbold Section. She was member of the Stryker Senior Citizens group. Gladys also served on the local election board, volunteered at Fairlawn Nursing Home for 25 years and was involved with the Stryker Alumni Association for over 25 years.

Survivors include her son, William and wife Shirley Gentit of Fairfield Glade; grandchildren, Deborah Gentit of Terre Haute, IN, and Rhonda Smith of Danbury, CT; great-grandchildren, Robert Gentit of Lafayette, CO, Jessica Doyle of Danbury, CT, Samantha Smith, Kristin Smith and Michael Smith, all of Weston, CT.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stryker Alumni Association.
