We could never forget Glenn and his kindness. We have fond memories of shared experiences with him and Lyndia. He was such a remarkable person in so many ways—his sense of humor, his vast knowledge and his quest to expand it, his generosity and concern for others, and his love of family. We will miss him and his friendship. Glenn , “We will remember “.

We were truly fortunate to have met Glenn during our river cruise this past August. Even though we only knew him for a few months, it was clear that we had met a truly special person. We felt a closeness that you would expect from a friendship of many years. Sharing meals, stories and many laughs while on our trip, Glenn helped make our travels wonderfully memorable. We wish we had known him longer and will never forget him.

Our sincere sympathies,
Sheldon and Doreen Kaplan

We have known Glenn over thirty years and have great memories of good times spent together. We will miss Glenn's friendship, his sense of humor, his vast knowledge of so many topics, the good times we had traveling together, his stories, his generosity and his willingness to help. We will miss Glenn as a neighbor, a travel companion, and most of all as a true friend. As they said at the Last Post ceremony we attended together in Flanders, "We will remember."

Our sincere condolences,
Frank & Bonnie Marsico

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Glasgow.

I worked with Dr. Glasgow for over 16 years while I was at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Glasgow had a great sense of humor, and he used his sense of humor to navigate inevitable bureaucratic hurdles that cropped up occasionally.

In 1993 he introduced me to radiosurgery and I ended up in Boston for a month of training, so I could support the Unix computer system that was used for creating the treatment plans associated with our patients. In 1994 Dr Glasgow was appointed acting chair of Radiation Oncology. He managed to keep the department together for over 2 years while the search for a new chair dragged on.

He influenced the modernization of the department with 3 dimensional treatment planning and the installation of state-of-the-art new linear accelerators at the new Loyola outpatient center.

Dr. Glasgow had the ability to work through some difficult situations. His philosophy for our work environment was 1) always have a Plan B and 2) when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

As a computer system administrator, I incorporated always having a Plan B in much of the work that I did at Loyola and other places that I worked afterwards. Making lemonade out of lemons was a more difficult task but I have followed Dr. Glasgow's philosophy when faced with some difficult situations.

Dr. Glasgow retired from Loyola 6 months after I left Radiation Oncology. I retired from Northwestern University over 3 years ago. We managed to stay in touch with each other through e-mail and by meeting for coffee in downtown Chicago.

I was fortunate to meet up with Dr. Glasgow back in May of this year. I was in Southern Indiana for 3 weeks helping my father go through physical rehabilitation after he had 2 bouts of pneumonia. Dr. Glasgow and I had coffee together and talked for over an hour and a half. We talked about the people that worked with us and the changes to the field of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Glasgow was devoted to his family and liked his retirement with the ability to do occasional consulting. I talked to him about what it was like being a grandfather and of course I showed him several dozen pictures of our grand daughter who was now a toddler.

Dr. Glasgow will be greatly missed. He had a great zest for life which showed through his devotion to his family and his career. I feel fortunate having known Dr. Glasgow for the past 29 years.
