GRANBURY, Tex. — Glenn E. Scalise, age 79, formerly of East Springfield, Pa., until moving to Granbury, Tex. in 2006, went home to be with The Lord suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, from complications following surgery at the Baylor All-Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.Glenn was born in Russell, Pa., Aug. 16, 1929, the son of the late Frank R. and Edna (Arthur) Scalise, who were from the Warren, Pa. area.Glenn made a career using his welding skills learned while a Navy "CB" as a union ironworker on projects like the Verrazano Bridge in New York City. Also worked at Hopkins Mfg. and Plastek. He graduated from West Springfield High School and went into the U.S. Navy Seabees where he was in the Construction Battalion (CB’s) organization; and was awarded a medal for his service in Korea.He was a member of the West Springfield Baptist Church in West Springfield, Pa. Glenn loved his family and grandchildren, he enjoyed farming, he built his own home, built his own tractor; he was an artist, and a man who could fix anything. After retirement, he enjoyed using the computer and wrote his complete memoirs.Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Seeley) Scalise; his brothers, Bernard "Bud", Robert and Charles; and sisters, Neva Mosinski and Lucille Hovanec Bayus.Glenn is survived by his second wife, Nancy (Johnston) Scalise; whom he married June 13, 2006; two sons, Bradley Scalise and his wife, Lynn of California and Jeffrey Scalise of Painesville, Ohio; two daughters; Patricia Hosler and her husband, Thomas of Jefferson, Ohio and Julia Pellegrino of Girard, Pa.; two step-sons; John Johnston of Oklahoma and Ernest Johnston of Kansas; along with a step-daughter, Victoria Walley of Texas. Glenn is also survived by a sister, Carol Everden of East Springfield, Pa.; and three brothers, Harmon Scalise and his wife, Norma of Girard, Pa., Frank Scalise and his wife, Betty of East Springfield, Pa., and Ronald Scalise and his wife, Sue of Girard, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren; along with four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild who called him Ha-Ha.Friends are invited to call at the JEAN EVANS THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa., Monday, Jan. 12th, 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Life Celebration Memorial Service at the West Springfield Baptist Church, Rt. 20 in West Springfield, Pa., Tuesday, Jan. 13th, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Andrew Shields, officiating. A Private Family Service will be held at the Springfield Cemetery in East Springfield, Pa.
