The Life of Glenn Paul Thompson Sr

Glenn Paul Thompson Sr age 75 was born February 10, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to the late Sylvester and Elsie Thompson. As a young man Glenn was a devoted Catholic serving as an altar boy and member of SS Monica & Luke Catholic Church. Upon graduating from Gary Emerson High School class of 1968, Glenn proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country well for 4 years with a honorable discharge. Glenn returned to his hometown Gary, IN where he worked as a steelworker and retired after 35 years of employment. He continued to work an additional 5 years as a maintenance engineer for Hy-Vee company. Glenn continued to serve his community as a lifetime member of the AMVET Post 6 and VFW 2151 in Gary, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents Sylvester and Elsie Thompson; grandmother, Hattie Hollier Gilbert; aunt, Vivian Streeter; brother-in-law Harold Beckwith; In-laws Robert and Pauline Williams. Glenn is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Roberta Carol Thompson; dedicated daughters, Metai Ezell and Michaela (Thomas) Squire; faithful nephew, NaShawn (Denise) Strong; loving God-daughter, Thisa Nelson; Children, Unme Thompson, Glenn (Carmela) Thompson Jr, and Joseph Thompson; Granddaughters, Madison Gutierrez and Olivia Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memory siblings; Jacqueline Bowman Beckwith, Leon (Paula) Thompson and Valerie Washington; brothers-in-law Frankie (Linda) Dixon, Bobbie Dixon, Emmitt Dixon and Robert Williams Jr; sisters-in-law, Tina Scott, Kathleen Williams, Regina (Larry) Lawson and Lisa (Darryl) Haynes. He will truly be missed by a host of family and friends. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:00AM at SS Monica & Luke Catholic Church 645 Rhode Island Street Gary, IN.
