Glenn THORDARSON Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family announces Glenn's sudden passing on June 7, 2012.
Glenn will be remembered by his family as a compassionate, loving, husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He had the ability to help others reach their true potential and believe in themselves. He will be remembered for his generosity and kindness. He was a man of his word and touched many lives.
Glenn started a small woodworking company out of his garage in the early 80's and always strived for excellence. As his company grew, his employees became a part of a large extended family that helped him achieve the success and respect Milltech receives today. Through his company's success he met many people. They were not only business associates but many became great friends as well.
Glenn leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 32 years, Crystal, sons Troy and Evan, pals Niro and Louie. He also leaves behind his loving family, mother Chris, brother Terry (Colette, Ron, Greg, Trevor) sister Carol Baker (Mike, Erin, Laura, Jayme) and sister Donna Mykitiuk (Mick, Terolenn, Jake, Shaelenn, Lorenn). Predeceased by his father Doug in April, 2009. He will be sadly missed by numerous relatives and a large number of friends and business associates. We wish to thank those who assisted Glenn at the scene. A special thank you to Andy Kave, Rick and Doug (Sharon) of the Vernon Funeral home and Constable Robert Kyle.
A Celebration of Glenn's Life will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Point Church of God, 720- 62 Street SW (62nd Street and Ellerslie Road) Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn's memory to the Cross Cancer Institute 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2.

I was shocked to learn of the sudden loss of Glenn. I will always remember the many conversations I had with him over the years at the rink. He coached my son Braden in his early years. To you Crystal, and the boys, please accept our deepest sympathy in the tragic loss of Glenn.

I was shocked to learn of the sudden and tragic passing of Glenn.
Glenn and I were buddies back in our Journal newspaper carrier days and in high school. I have many fond memories of having supper over at Glenn's house. His family was always welcoming towards me.
My girlfriend (now wife) attended Glenn and Crystals' wedding back in 1979(?). As frequently happens after graduating high school, friends often take different paths and lose contact with each other. Through the years I have on occasion wondered 'whatever happened to Glenn' and 'how is he doing?'
Regretfully, I never kept in contact with Glenn and now feel like I've missed out on a great friendship that would have be going on some 35 years.
My deepest sympathies to Crystal , Troy, Evan, Mom Chris as well as Terry, Carol, Donna and their respective families.

Glen was a great guy and he will be greatly missed. He always had a time for everyone and was always there to help. Seemed like the words "can't and not possible" just weren't in his vocabulary. He was ever optimisctic, we're sorry for your loss.

Letter to Glenn:
The last meeting I had with you was Wednesday afternoon, shortly before you left to go to Kelowna. You were a little stressed because of that and as soon as I stepped in your office you snapped at me, but I snapped back and all the sudden you started smiling...
When I first started at Milltech I thought I will might stay 5 days or 5 weeks. This is now 5 years ago. And why do I stay and so many others for so long? Because we are family. And you made it happen, Glenn. You invented Milltech more then 25 years ago and the company is still growing, you gave everybody the feeling to be part of the big picture – the Milltech family. You gave us foreign workers the opportunity for a new beginning here in Canada and you respected each and everyone of us – didn't matter to you if we are from Canada, Vietnam, Mexico, the Phillipines, Rumania, Jugoslavia, Turkey or Germany. You treated everyone in the same way.
And now you are gone.
And it will never be the same.
And I will miss our conversations at 6 in the morning in your office.
But I know: your smile is with me.
