Glenn C. Woodbury, 72, of Warwick, died peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2013. He was the loving husband of Cheryl (Chambers) Woodbury for 47 years. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Charles and Geraldine Woodbury. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with a B.S. and an M.A., Glenn started his career as a teacher and coach in East Greenwich. He went on to work at Bryant College and the University of Rhode Island. His corporate career included three years at Amtrol, Inc. in West Warwick and 15 years at Boston Edison, working in Human Resources. In his retirement, he served as a volunteer at Kent Hospital. A life-long athlete, Glenn lettered in three sports at Lynn English High School in Massachusetts and spent four years on the Rhody Rams football team. He also played semi-pro football for the East Greenwich Townies. He was a 33-year member of the Rhode Island Football Officials Association, refereeing high school football games throughout the state. He was inducted into the Providence Gridiron Club Hall of Fame in 2003. In addition to his wife, Glenn is survived by five children, Debra Quinton and Matthew Woodbury of Warwick, Dawne Smart of Seekonk, Mass., Catherine Mosher of East Providence, and Michael Woodbury of Hopkinton. He also leaves ten beloved grandchildren. He was the brother of Ronald Woodbury of Lynn, Mass., Wayne Woodbury of New Boston, New Hampshire, and Stephen Woodbury of North Reading, Mass. His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 AM from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI 02889.
