Gloria Fierros Obituary

In Loving Memory of Gloria M. Fierros August 17, 1940 – May 6, 2025
With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Gloria M. Fierros, who passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona, at the age of 84. She was surrounded by her loving family-children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews-all by her side in her final moments. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Gloria was born on August 17, 1940, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Monico and Maximiana Montoya, who preceded her in death. She later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she met the love of her life, Carlos T. Fierros. They married on February 7, 1959, and shared over 58 beautiful years together before Carlos passed in 2017.

Gloria was a proud and devoted mother to Carlos M. Fierros (wife Anna), Mary H. Castro (husband Pete), David A. Fierros (wife Donna), and Arnold Fierros. Her greatest joy was her family, and she delighted in the love of 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Rebecca Vrizuela, Vicki Torres, Terry Montoya, and Leo and Mike Montoya. She was preceded in death by her sisters Frances Garcia and Erlinda Zoeller.

Gloria worked for many years at Motorola, Sperry, and Honeywell, where she was admired for her strong work ethic, loyalty, and kindness. Yet, her most important role was that of matriarch. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her legendary cooking-Nana's beans, homemade tacos, red and green chili-meals that brought the family together and created lasting memories.

She loved her quiet time in Munds Park, sitting on the front porch, phone in hand, talking with family and friends, or playing games on her iPhone. Her phone was always ringing-proof of the many people who loved her and found comfort in her voice. Whether in Phoenix or Munds Park, Gloria made everyone feel welcome, seen, and loved.

She also found joy in fishing trips, gardening, and most of all, visits from her children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. Her faith in God guided her life, and her strength, humor, and compassion left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9925 W Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ. A reception will follow at American Legion Post 41, 715 S 2nd Ave, Phoenix, AZ, where family and friends will gather to honor her life and legacy.

Though her passing leaves a deep void, Gloria's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her-in the laughter at the table, the smell of green chili, the ring of a phone call, and the warmth of her memory.
