Gloria Holler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 15 to Apr. 23, 2022.
Gloria Lee Martin Holler of Costa Mesa, CA went home to be with the Lord on April 3rd, 2022. Gloria was born May 31, 1927 in Lincoln, NE to Paul Martin Grauenhorst and Ruth Levona Van Scoyoc. At the age of 4, Gloria and her mother journeyed to San Francisco, CA to join Paul who had commandeered a "Big Band" and was an accomplished banjo player. One of Gloria's earliest memories of her time in San Francisco is when just shy of her 10th birthday, the Golden Gate Bridge officially opened, and she remembered walking across the span with her father, taking in the celebration of what was then a feat of engineering and science. She spent most of her youth in the Seacliff neighborhood of San Francisco before moving with the family to Los Angeles, CA in the early 1940's, then graduating from Los Angeles High School in 1945. Gloria would enroll for a few semesters at the University of Southern California where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Gloria also worked for a period of time at the Bullock's Department Store in Westwood as a clothes buyer, a job that impacted her love of fashion and style for the rest of her life. It was around this time that Gloria would meet her future husband Curt. Gloria married Wesley Curtis Holler, Jr. on November 4th, 1950 at the Bethel Lutheran Church on Olympic Blvd in Los Angeles, CA. Fast forward a couple years and Gloria would start a family, move to Rolling Hills in Palos Verdes, where between football games, booster meetings, and caring for her family, she developed a career as a real estate agent. Gloria and Curt were active travelers, with many trips to Europe, the South Pacific, and across the country. They retired to the slopes of Mount Rose in Reno, NV where Gloria helped her sisters care for their own mother later in life. Gloria loved spending time with her family, meeting "good puppies," and enjoying her final years in coastal Orange County. Gloria is preceded in death by her father and mother, husband, and niece Dana Cohen Craig. She is survived by her beloved family: sisters, Joan and Virginia "Ginny"; son, Bruce (Virginia); grandchildren Travis (Scott), Samantha (Matthew), Luke (Kathrine), Natalie (Dan), Richard, Kristen, and Heather; as well as nephews and nieces Brian, Katie, Jon, Robbie, Molly, and Matthew. A private burial at the Masonic Memorial Gardens at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, NV will take place on April 19th. A celebration of life is scheduled for May 21st in San Clemente, CA for friends and extended family to be together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the SHORTSTOP Youth Project with Remember the Titans for the Long Beach Bar Foundation.
