Gordon "Andy" Anderson, 85 years old of Carlsbad, passed away on July 15, 2025, of heart failure. Gordon was born in 1940 in Pomona to Ernest and Estalene Anderson. He joined the Marine Corps in 1959 and served for 22 years. While in the Marine Corps he was involved with the Bay of Pigs in Cuba, did a tour of service in Vietnam, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He stated that the highest honor of his life was to wear the uniform of the United States Marine Corps. He married his beloved wife Norma in January of 1963, and they were happily married for over 62 years. He had a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Washington and a master's degree in computer science from the Naval Postgraduate School. After earning the rank of Major, he retired from the Marine Corps and worked in Software Development for over 20 years. Throughout his life, he was very athletic and believed in maintaining physical fitness. For the last 15 years of his life, he valiantly fought Parkinson's Disease and was active with Rock Steady boxing. He loved international travel and visited 57 countries. He also loved photography, white water rafting, wine, and good movies. He used to race his BMW M3 and was a member of the BMW Car Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at 2pm at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Noble Drive, San Diego. A reception will be held afterwards, location to be announced.
