Gordon Kennedy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 28 to Jan. 29, 2011.
KENNEDY, Gordon Andrew It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa and GG Papa just seven days shy of his 97th birthday. Predeceased by his parents and five brothers, he will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Gertie of 68 years; only daughter Beryl (Bill) Schmidt; and sister Cora Deters. Grandpa also leaves to mourn six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Brad (Paula) Schmidt and children Keisha, Brayden and Haley, Dwayne (Tracy) Schmidt and children Ashleigh and Kaitlin (Dayton) and child Ethan, Tara-Lee (Brad) Haus and children Kara (Dru), Nattea and Mason, Craig (Dawn) Schmidt and children Sydney and Jenae, Connie (Blaine) Campbell and children Tamika and Baret, Tania (Neil) Brown and children Lucas and Erik. Grandpa was talented in many ways. As a licensed electrician, he was always fixing and tinkering and built a successful business in 1984. He owned and operated Gord's Starter and Alternator for 15 years before proudly handing it down to his oldest grandson. He was also a dedicated hockey fan and played competitively until the age of 50. He coached the senior team in Pense for many years and, in his golden years, loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. When the ice melted, there wasn't a day that he wasn't feeding his birds or watching the squirrels. But, of all the many talents and loves in his life, everyone who knew him knew he was famous for his story telling and constant chit chat to everyone who was lucky enough to be listening. He will always be remembered for his everpresent love for his family as well as his amazing ability to learn something new every day. We are so lucky to have had such a special, gentle, loving man as the patriarch to our family. We love you Papa. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to the Lumsden Manor. P.O. Box 533, Lumsden, SK, S0G 3C0. A PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICE will be held. Family and friends are invited to a come and go tea to be held on his birthday, February 2, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lumsden Community Hall. Family and friends are invited to sign the online obituary and tributes page at www.regina-memorial.ca . Arrangements entrusted to
