August 19, 1944 - June 23, 2012
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an incredible and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Gordon was taken from us unexpectedly on June 23, 2012. Gordon is survived by his loving Wife and best friend Darlene, Children Michelle (Kevin), Josh (Jenny) their Mother Jennifer, Tera (Kevin), William (Danielle); Grandchildren Stuart, Laura, Tanisha, Sherrilyn, Emersyn and Charley; Mother Margaret, Brother Larry, Brothers-In-law Fred and Dale (Phyllis) Macintosh Sisters-In-Law Sharon Macintosh, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gordon was predeceased by his Father Alex, Brother Ricky, Sisters-In-Law Sandi McDonald and Linda Macintosh. Gordon was a proud employee of Air Canada for 35 years and after retiring you could find him enjoying his family, friends and his honored passion as part of the WWII RCAF Typhoon Fighter Pilots, traveling and spending time with the pilots and planning future trips. Gordon was an avid reader, history buff, a fan and follower of the UFC and enjoyed playing bridge and poker. Most importantly he was a true friend to all. Gordon will always be remembered for his incredible knowledge, his quick wit, unbelievable sense of humor, talking on the phone, storytelling, his kind and generous heart and most of all his unconditional love for his family and pets. He loved life and lived every moment to its fullest extent. Gordon's passing has left a huge hole in our hearts and lives. He will forever be remembered. The family would like to thank Dr. Du Toit and Tanya. A Celebration of Gordon's Life will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Eaglequest Coyote Creek Golf and Country Club at 7778 - 152 Street Surrey, BC.

The years we shared have been full of joy.

Memories of a wonderful Life together, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, & Friend that I called Hon: the smell of your hair, the sound of your laughter, secrets shared, whispers in the night, hugs and kisses and our true love, your jokes, your unforgettable stories, your incredible knowledge, your kind and generous heart, the trips & vacations, being with the Kids and Grandkids, family dinners, Xmas mornings, trips to the farm with the kids, Disneyland, Europe, Point Roberts, the sound of your voice, your unconditional love, the colour blue, you in your cars, your smile, your beard, our fights & our laughter, your unforgettable sense of humour, your collectables, your books, your bridge & poker games, Mick, Willie, Country Joe & The Fish, Amy, Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson, Going up the Country, Shelby Lynn & Willie Angel flying to close to the ground, Nora Jones & Willie Wurlitzer Prize, Someday We Will Be Together, Crazy, Mull of Kintyre, You Send Me, Mess Around, Reet Petite, In the Upper Room, all your dogs, your life long friends, your house, your phone and all the phone calls daily, your TV & Movies, a rum & coke. Auntie Darlene.....I'm sorry I haven't wrote in Gord's book sooner. I wanted to wait a bit. I'm so so sorry to hear about Gord. He's been in my life as long as I can remember. From taking me to air shows with you guys to giving me binders and boxes of hockey cards (which I still have and will till I give them to my kids). You guys did so much for us and I can't explain how grateful we are for the love and care you've both showed me and the girls. You are such an amazing woman and the family would not be what it is today if not for you. We may not be living there, but if you EVER need anything or anyone to talk to or cry with, we are all here for you. We love you so much Auntie Darlene. And now Auntie Linda has one of the best with her now.

Im so sorry to hear about Gordie. I just can't imagine what you are going through.
I remember Gordie when I first started with AC & he was the Union Rep & at the end of his career with AC he was my boss. He was amazing and he knew the contract so well and was always a wealth of information. He always joked around and told the best stories they were so entertaining. Like everyone else to find out of Gordie's passing, we feel numb. He was so full of life and always on the go doing for everyone else. It seems to unfair. I really feel for you and your family. You were just retired and looking for you both to enjoy life. I just don't know what to say. We had so many good times together and Rick's best pal to go in the prime of his life. You both were loving friends to us, always doing for everyone else. Helping with flights to the UK, etc etc. We have such wonderful memories, I know it is so very hard for you and I pray that you get through your sadness. I remember when I first learned that you and Gord were in love I was so happy for the two of you. It was obvious; you were like an old married couple. You knew each other so well.
Gord had a great sense of humour,a very dry wit;I saw him set someone up so easily (I was one myself at times). He always had a quick mind.
Darlene, I just don't know what to say other than I loved to be around you guys. And that Gord loved you with all his heart and that he was a truly special person. I am so glad to have known him.

Like so many others, the news came with great shock. As I reflected a time ages ago, I went back to when you were living in Point Roberts, and every time Gord passed thru the room, he was like a Grand Marshal leading a parade of "the children". When we began working together at GARDA, Darlene, it was through our many long, wonderful talks, that I learned so much about Gord -- his interesting background as a young man, his life in Richmond, the airline times, family (and those four legged woofers he cared so much for!). Your family were shocked to hear the news,
When Heaven took you up as their Muse,
All regretted we didn't say good-bye,
But no-one knew it was your last reply,
The dog was barking to say don't go and Linda whispered it's time to go. She took your hand, your heart and your soul and up you floated waving below,
Your wife, your kids, your family and friends will never forget your cheeky grin. Your wit, your charm and your devotion to all will be kept in our hearts forever more.
You're in the clouds, the breeze and sky…sometimes we even see you at our side. You whisper to us to let you go, cause we're holding you back from reaching your goal.
Tears stream down our faces and it's hard to breathe, we all want answers but it's time to leave. You kiss our foreheads and squeeze us tight knowing that one day we'll see your sight.

It is just so lonely here on the hill without Gord popping over to share stories, tell jokes and play pranks. Don misses him a great deal. My dearest Darlene,
I am heartsick to hear that your beloved Gord passed away last Saturday, and please accept my deepest condolences. Gord was a sweet natured, kind and loving man. Your marriage with him was truly made in Heaven Dar, because a happier, more united couple would be impossible to find. You two were so lucky to have found each other and to have enjoyed a happy, amazing marriage for so many years. While his passing was sudden and totally unexpected, there is comfort in the fact that he didn't suffer a long and protracted illness prior to it. That would've been so much worse, not only for him, but for you and your family. I know that God has reserved a very special place in Heaven for Gord, because he was such a good, honourable and kind man who exuded love and thoughtfulness to all those whose lives brushed against his.

My heart is filled with sorrow upon learning today of Gordon's premature passing, but, I am blessed with many fond and fun memories of Gordon and his antics. I knew Gordon post Army and pre Air Canada when he raced his orange Chevelle, ate Chinese food at the Bamboo Grove and spent many hours with his family and friends. dear grandpa, It makes me sad to know ill never hear a great one liner anymore or get to see your smile. You ment the world to all of us! you and i did everything together. From traveling the world to watching Frasier at one of the 2 homes we shared. I will never forget the amazeing times we had together Love you always!

Darlene and Family
Gord was a wonderful man who lived life to the fullest and left us too soon. His smile, wonderful sense of humour and temendous knowledge left a lasting impression on all who met him. My days working in Vancouver were made that much more pleasant by working with him. Our days were filled with laughter regardless of how busy or unpleasant the situation was.
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with you both during your time in Calgary.
Gord has left a hole in the hearts of many including mine. He was a wonderful husband, son, father, grandfather and friend. I feel honoured to have been a part of your lives.

That we've lost our grandpa, friend, and our dad
I really must say we've cried this whole day
It will never be the same knowing you won't be here ever again
But grandpa would want us all to know he's in a good place
And that he is watching us all with a smile on his face

Maybe they needed someone as intelligent and funny as you to brighten there day

Gord taught me so much and honestly, kept me laughing for all the years we worked together even under very trying times. He was a friend from the first time we met.
