PARKS, Gordon Ernest
December 23, 1943 - June 9, 2016
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Parks, our beloved husband, father and grandfather on June 9, 2016. He leaves to mourn in passing his loving family: wife of 53 years and best friend Bonnie, daughter Jacqueline (Darrell) Curtis, son Malcolm (Natalie): much loved grandchildren, Rachel and Cain Curtis, Matthew and Tyler Parks, Paige, Madyson and Mackenna Parks. Brother Ron (Maureen), sisters RoseLynne (Ben) Urner, Vicky (Ron) Bradley, Lorraine (Wally) Hawryschuk and Joanie (Dennis) Hendricks. Many special nieces and nephews, wonderful and caring extended family and friends. Gord was predeceased by his parents Roy and Bea and with extreme sadness by his son Greg in June, 2015.
Gord was born and raised in Edmonton surrounded by a large close knit family. Gord was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, leaving his family with many wonderful memories. His favourite times included coaching his sons in minor sports, following them through their hockey years (never missing a game), spending time with them on the course and the many hours spent with his daughter at dog shows or the riding arena. He was there for his children in whatever role was needed. Gord loved attending his grandchildren's activities, providing constant encouragement. He always looked forward to their company whether it was just to visit or to play a game of cards or Yahtzee. Golf was a passion, he cherished his rounds with family and friends, side games typically added to the fun. At home, many hours were spent with his faithful companion and buddy Jasper by his side.
Please join the family for an Open House to honour Gord's memory at the Derrick Golf and Winter Club, 3500 - 119 Street, Sunday, June 26 between 1 and 4 p.m.
