Gordon Wegner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2014.
Gordon L Wegner of Loveland, CO went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2014. His daughters Shari and Lori were with him. Gordon was born July 22, 1929 in Elmira, NY. He came to Colorado to attend Denver University for a degree in business, and married his college sweetheart Patricia A Zehrung of Denver, CO in February 1951. They were married for 61 years, and blessed with 3 children, Douglas Wegner of Mesquite, NV; Shari Murdock of Loveland, CO; and Lori Staley of Windsor, CO, plus 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Gordon and Pat's favorite hobbies were golf, and traveling together. Gordon is an honored veteran who served in the US Navy on submarines during the Korean war. A devoted Christian, sharing his faith and love with everyone he met, an elder in the lst Presbyterian Church in Boulder, and other churches that they attended. He served on the Boulder County School board in the 1970's. He was active in Bible Study Fellowship, Family Life ministry, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Navigators Christian organizations. Gordon and Pat loved music, were members of the choir, and sang duets together. In 1985, their dedication to God and love for music led them to Rocky Mountain Bible Church in Frisco, CO, and then to Mesquite NV, where they felt God's leading to start a church, which is now Valley Presbyterian Church in Mesquite. Gordon had an amazing business career, serving as Vice President of Lewan & Associates in Denver for 30 years. Paul Lewan is his best friend, and the godfather of his children. Honesty and integrity were his clothing, love and service to the Lord and others were his life. An outdoor memorial will be held Friday, June 20th, at 2 pm. For info call 970-635-0204. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Navigators, PO Box 6000, Colo Springs, CO 80934. Go to www.viegutfuneralhome.com for condolences.
