Grace Dlugos Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 8 to Feb. 9, 2024.
GRACE EVELYN DLUGOS, 99, died peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Spring Arbor in Leesburg, Virginia.

Born on March 13, 1924, in Star City, West Virginia, Grace was the daughter of the late Joseph Derigo and the late Mae Molisee Derigo. She was the wife of the late John Dlugos; they were married in 1957.

Grace is survived by her sons, Dennis Dlugos and Stephen Dlugos (Dee); daughter, Jennifer Duthie (Andrew); and grandchildren, Courtney, Jillian, Jan, Joseph, and John.

A long-time resident of Star City, WV she fondly reminisced about growing up on "Brick Row" where she lived through the Great Depression and World War II. During the war, she and her best friend headed to Rahway, NJ where they helped the war effort by riveting the fuselages of aircraft. Later she worked holding molds for the glass blowers at Davis-Lynch Glass Factory in Star City. Grace was also an avid bowler and was part of the Early Risers bowling league at Suburban Lanes where she bowled with the Busy Bees for more than 50 years. She continued bowling into her 90s.

A funeral Mass was held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, February 8, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, VA.

Grace was interred at Beverly Hills Cemetery in Morgantown, WV.
