Grace Fleming

FLEMING, Grace Grace Loretta Fleming, 88, of Austin, Texas, died Monday, August 6, 2018. Grace was born on June 3, 1930 in Denver, Colorado. Her parents, Ralph and Loretta LeRoy raised her in a loving home with her two sisters Mary Elizabeth and Dorothy Margaret. Grace graduated from East High School in Denver in 1948. In 1950, she married John Engstrom Fleming (Jack) and would remain his loving wife for 64 years until Jack's passing in 2014. Grace devoted her life to her family - her husband and her two children, Margaret (Maggie) and John. The family moved from Denver in 1965 to Laramie, Wyoming, and Great Falls, Montana and finally settled in Austin, Texas where Grace lived for over 50 years. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her career was spent in retail sales followed by almost 20 years of caring for infants and toddlers. She loved children and was a wonderful, caring "Grandma" to many youngsters. She would babysit well into her 70's and enjoyed spending time reading books to children. Grace is survived by her daughter Margaret McKinney and partner Laurie Madsen of Cedar Park, her son John Fleming and his wife Barbara of Orange Park, Florida, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, her sister Dorothy Stone of Denver, and her sister-in-law Helen Neuschaefer of Westminister, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Fleming and her grandson Eric McKinney. We will miss Grace's smile, her lovable demeanor, and her great laugh. Grace's family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center and New Century Hospice for the extraordinary care she received. Grace will rest with her husband and grandson in Austin Memorial Gardens. The family will have a private ceremony for Grace.
