Grace Lumpkin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 5, 2004.
Grace Elizabeth Lumpkin, 87, of Chandler and, recently, Gilbert, AZ passed away in her sleep at home on May 1, 2004. Miss Lumpkin was born on January 16, 1917 in DeLand, Florida, the first child of Robert F. and Ethel Lamson Lumpkin. She was a bookkeeper for many businesses, making her home in New Canaan, Connecticut for most of her career. Grace retired to Arizona in 1987. She is survived by her brother, Thomas L. Lumpkin, of Mesa, sister-in-law Shirley Lumpkin of Scottsdale, niece Deidra (Dick) Rambo of Gilbert, nephews David (Joan) Lumpkin of Mesa, Alan (Laurie) of New York, Robert Lumpkin of Tolleson, John Lumpkin and Glenn Lumpkin of Phoenix, James Lumpkin, and 7great-nieces and nephews. Grace was a sweet, loving, gentle lady who always put others before herself. She loved classical music, hymns, literature, the Bible, and Christian church services. Especially dear to her were young children, and she loved and encouraged all of her nieces and nephews in both generations. Everyone of any age who has known Grace will miss her deeply. We have all been blessed by this extraordinary lady, who now enjoys the presence of her Lord Jesus. Private services have been arranged by Falconer Funeral Home for Thursday, May 6th. "Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and whoever loves the Father loves His child as well." 1 John 5:1 Sign the Guest Book at eastvalleytribune.com
