Grace Oles Obituary
She was born Sept. 28, 1927, on the family farm in South Kortright, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Swiderski) Dorosky.
Grace graduated from Stamford Central School.
Grace married Carl P. Shaw on June 6, 1948. Together they shared 39 years of marriage until his death Oct. 23, 1987. On March 7, 1992, Grace married Howard Oles. Howard predeceased her in the spring of 1998.
For 35 years, Grace was a waitress at the Bresee's Health Bar.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, taking many bus trips with Eastern Travel, but most of all, Grace loved spending time with her family especially her two granddaughters, Tracy and Leann. Grace was a loving, caring and overall happy person who will be greatly missed.
She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and also Young at Heart.
Grace is survived by her son, Ronald C. Shaw and his wife, Letty of Oneonta; her daughter, Bonnie Shaw and her husband, John Hartner of Oneonta; two grandchildren, Tracy Shaw of Boston, Mass., and Leann Shaw of Oneonta; one sister, Pauline Fowlston of Florida; a special sister-in-law, Betty Dean of Oneonta; and a close friend, Shirley Banner of Fly Creek; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Frances Eckerson; and two brothers, Harry and Kenneth Dorosky.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta.
A Mass of Christian burial will at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with Fr. Joseph Benintende officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
Memorial donations in Grace's name may be made to either the Susquehanna SPCA, 4841 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326 or to the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, 1 Norton Ave., Oneonta, NY 13820.

My deepest sympathy to Grace's entire famiily.
I am a cousin. Grace's father and my grandfather were brothers. As a child I remember visiting her home. As time pasted and we grew and went our separate ways we lost touch. The last time I saw Grace and the family was at a Dorosky family reunion.
She was a sweet, gentle lady. May you find comfort in your memories.

I'm so sorry, guys. "Maude" was the best. Your folks just treated all of us like gold. It was our home away from home. She was a wonderful lady, and thinking of her always brings a smile to my face. She was so sweet, and funny. Oh, was she funny.

My sincere sympathy to you. Grace was
always such a warm, happy lady. My Mom (Eleanor Oles Burton)and Howard were first cousins, and Grace was such a wonderful addition to the Oles Family.

I knew Grace and Howard for several years. After Howard died, and Grace moved back to Oneonta, I would still see her as a patient at the dental office in Sidney. I always loved talking with her. She was a warm, sweet, loving lady. My sympathy goes out to her family.

Back in the early 60's I worked for a few month at the Healoth Bar and I remember Francis and Grace very well for their kindness and caring.
