Woodbury, TN

Buddy Hayes, age 79 of Woodbury passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at St. Thomas Rutherford. He was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include his children, Jeanean (Jim) Hagen of Summerville, SC, Shannon (Donnie) Colvard of Woodbury, Cheryl (Bill) Sharp of Woodbury, and Bryan (Lisa) Hayes of Murfreesboro; Grandchildren, Trenton Ferrell, Emily Smith, Kayla Johnson, Brandon Colvard, Heather Garland, Taran Hayes, Lyndi Hayes, Lydia Garrett, & Evan Sharp; Sister, Helen Davenport of Woodbury; and Sister-in-law, Jewell Hayes of Woodbury. Thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Hayes & Lillian LaFevers Downing; Wife, Virginia Pack Hayes; Brother, Billy Hayes; and Brother-in-law, Hoppy Davenport.

Mr. Hayes was a member of the Baptist church and was a veteran of the Air Force. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Rutherford Co. Highway Dept. He was an avid drag car racer and mechanic where he raced at Buffalo Valley. He was also a member of the International Hot Rod Association.

Services will be 2 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the funeral home. Woodbury Funeral Home, 615-563-2311, www.woodburyfuneralhome.net
