Gracie Dee Mayfield Sitton, born June 22, 1918, went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2008 at the age of 90. She was a long-time resident of the Mt. View community in Blount County, a member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ and a retiree from Carraway Methodist Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 66 years, Ottis D. Sitton; her parents, Will and Martha Mayfield; and one brother, Clayton L. Mayfield. Mrs. Sitton is survived by two sons and two daughters: Jeffrey (Wanda) Sitton of Hayden, Marcia Frankl of Hoover, Gale (Tom) Morton of Bristol, Tenn. and James (Suzanna) Sitton of Hayden as well as eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Thelma Woodard of Gardendale, Nell (Ed) Romine of Adamsville, Mabra Mayfield of Hanceville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Hospice Complete; especially to her nurse, Teri Farmer and her aide, Hazel Fields for their care and kindness to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Minister Jerrel Fikes is officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until service time at the funeral home. Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, is directing.
