I knew and dealt with Grady for over 20 years. He was one of those guys you looked forward to seeing each month. We would talk fishing or football or we would have lunch on occasion and never heard him talk bad about anybody or anything. He might have a suggestion or two for the Dallas Cowboys but never really bad mouthed them. He will be greatly missed. My heartfelt prayers go out to his family.

We first met Grady when we moved next door in March of 2007. His name sounded familiar to me, so I looked him up. Since both of my sons were Aggies, we had an immediate bond. I will always remember him chewing on his cigar and pushing his lawnmower with one hand. When he came over to visit, he would have to duck to get in the front door. He was a big man with an even bigger heart. His passing will leave a big hole in a lot of people's lives.

Grady was looked up to by all. He was so proud of his family and always asked how your family was doing. He always had a smile on his face and never did he say a bad word about anyone. He came to Ranger to visit not long ago. He looked good and it was so good to see him. This is a total surprise. May God wrap his arms around the Allen family and give them comfort in their time of loss.

Since our days in high school at NHS, Grady was always a special person. Getting to see and visit him at class reunions was always a pleasure. No finer man or friend could be had as he always found time to visit and talk with everybody. He will be missed and our thoughts and prayers to all of his family. I went to Nacogdoches High School with Grady. What a kind person! I watched him achieve and give back; his humble, kind manner drew others to him. I am married to an Aggie and followed Grady's commitment to A&M over the years, the same commitment and appreciation that he showed toward high school coaches, teachers, and friends.

My prayers,

My name is Roy Schmidt, My wife is Nancy. We met Grady and Kay before they were married. We both played for the Atlanta Falcons in 1969. I've read all the kind words people have expressed to Grady's family. I can tell you many great stories about how he was a great teamate and friend. He loved his Aggie's. Life is to short for a person of his stature. Grady was a team leader and a man I respected. Our kids remember great fish fries - he caught them - on their deck where they lived down the street from us. We have no words to say that will lighten the pain Kay and the kids are feeling right now. We are so sad and pray that God has his arms around them. Love Roy and Nancy

It was an honor knowing Grady. He was a great influence on our son and his friends throughout their years at Bedford Junior High and L.D Bell High School. The kids really looked up to him and enjoyed being in his company. He was an excellent father and family man and always humble and the emotional rock that the young men needed. He is as much a reason for the men they all became as anyone. We are very proud to have known him and his family. He will be missed.

Our family was blessed when the Allen family was introduced to us many years ago. Grady was a so gracious and endearing to us.
It was basketball that brought us together and friendship that kept us there. Now the two that coached together can once again talk sports, about Dennis and have a laugh or two!
Our hearts and prayers are with Kay and the family as we will all miss Grady forever.
