Grady Lee Greer FLORENCE - Mr. Grady Lee Greer, 76, passed away at home on May 27, 2013. Mr. Greer was born in Greer, SC, on June 28, 1936, a son of the late Herbert Lee Greer and Gertrude Vaughn Greer. Mr. Greer began his career with the Darlington County School Administration. He later went into the private business sector and served as chairman of Toledo Carolina, Inc. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Greer was dedicated and very active in the community, with a special interest in Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, and public education. He served as past president of the Florence Rotary Club, Chairman of Florence County Council, a member of the Florence Airport Authority, Francis Marion University Foundation, The School Foundation, and too many other community interests to mention. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dannelle. Surviving are his wife, Betty Windham Greer; two daughters, Deborah (Ferdinand) Gregorie and Pamela (Charles) Petty; a son, Bret (Marla) Greer; a brother, Benny Greer; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, at Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, in First Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC, with graveside services to follow at the Windham Cemetery in Lamar, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, P. O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502, or www.mcleodfoundation.org; or The School Foundation, 320 W. Davilla and I were saddened to hear of Grady's passing. He was a really good friend. I always enjoyed golf with him and Tom Stanton. I will remember his blunt talk and kind works. I will really miss him.
