Grant Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 5, 2025.
Grant Nathan Alexander went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 17, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. Born in Seattle, Washington, and raised in the scenic town of Poulsbo, Grant lived a life defined by integrity, creativity, curiosity and a deep appreciation for the world around him.

A proud graduate of North Kitsap High School, Class of 1966, Grant began his journey in higher education at North Seattle Community College before training as an auto mechanic though Ford. He later joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302, where he found his professional home as a heavy equipment mechanic and equipment operator and eventually as a respected Business Agent, advocating on behalf of his fellow tradespeople with commitment and integrity.

Grant was a lifelong learner and man of interests. A passionate reader and history buff, he was known for his encyclopedic knowledge, quick wit and thoughtful conversations. He was a gifted artist who expressed himself though painting and building, and he carried a deep love for travel, always eager to explore new places and learn more about his family's heritage.

Those who knew Grant well remember his intelligence, quiet strength, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He approached life with humility, humor, and a genuine kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Alexander; mother, Stella Alexander; and sister, Jennifer Alexander. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 57 years, Farrel Alexander; his children Brenda Alexander (Brad Jenks), Amanda Nelson (Casey Hamrick), and Bill Alexander; his grandchildren Nathan Iles, Mathew Iles (CJ), Joshua Iles (Jade), DJ Nelson, and Ryker Alexander; and his Great-grandchildren Brynn, Bexley, Charlotte, Madison, and Micheal. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Grant's life will be held on Saturday, Aug 23, 2025, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Faith Fellowship Church in Silverdale, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Grant's honor to the Poulsbo Historical Society, reflecting his lifelong love for community and history.
