FERGUSON, Grant Hyland BA, LLB, QC
On May 27, 2003, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, passed away at home, with his family by his side, in his 78th year. Dearly loved husband of Ruth Ferguson (nee Drummond) of fifty years. Loving father of Ian Ferguson, and his wife Kristina of Whitby, Dr. Mary Ferguson and her husband Dr. Bob Bebbington of Lindsay, the late Lorna Ruth Ferguson (1979), and Elaine and her husband George Pilar of Port Elgin. Beloved grandfather of Andrew and Michael Ferguson, Kristen and Nicole Cornell, Morgan Bebbington, and Alex, Martin and Stephen Pilar. Dear son of the late Venora and Roy Ferguson of Blackstock. Brother of Thelma Wright (Lloyd) of Blackstock and Sandra Morton (Noel) of Oshawa. Predeceased by his brother William Ferguson of Blackstock and sister Mona Dunbar of Scarborough. Brother-in-law of Jean Ferguson and George Dunbar. Grant graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1953. He directed the legal services branch for the Department of Lands and Forests until 1973 when he was appointed Mining and Lands Commissioner of Ontario, a position held until he and Ruth retired to Peterborough in 1990. Grant was an active member of St. James Bond Church in Toronto and of George Street United Church in Peterborough. Visitation will be held from Kaye Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 539 George Street North, Peterborough (1-705-745-7889), Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. a Funeral Service will be held from George Street United Church followed by interment at Cartwright Union Cemetery, with short graveside service. Reception to follow at Blackstock United Church. Those wishing to commemorate Grant through memorial donations please consider George Street United Church.
