Having just returned to work today, I have just been reminded of the incredibly sad news of Grant's passing. In my career, there are a handful of people that I truly admired and sought out for advice and support. Grant was a gentleman, a professional and most of all, a kind & funny man. To Ruth, Lauren & Ross - please know he will forever be remembered by me with the utmost respect. I am so profoundly sorry for you loss.

For you Grant- you were a true and loyal friend. You were always there to help others in need including our family during the 1994 bushfires when you stepped up immediately to help us out. You also stepped up to be Thor's best man at our wedding so many years ago- when you had only known him for a very short time. Thank you. I know he also considered you to be a lifelong friend and ally- he will miss you very much as I will too. He'll have another 'joke' for you someday! We are so sorry that your life has been "cut short" so tragically- there was so much more for you to do especially with your family. We promise to ensure that Ruth and the kids are OK- will always look out for them as you would have in the opposite circumstances. We hope that you Rest in Peace. Our sincere thoughts are with you Ruth (our special friend)as well as Lauren and Ross.

Grant, you will be remembered for many years to come, for your dedication to survey education and to our whole survey community. I am sure that all of APAS joins with me to express our sadness at losing a man of your leadership and vision.
We will continued, but with reduced capacity, and a heaviness in our hearts.
Until we meet again,

TAFE NSW Riverina Institute were privileged to have Grant present to our Diploma students in November 2015. He was dynamic, professional and knowledgeable and the prefect ambassador for the Surveying industry. Although we only knew him for a short time we know he will be sorely missed by RMS and the industry as a whole. Our sincerest condolences to Grant's family and work colleagues.

I am shocked and very saddened to hear of your unexpected passing, Grant. You were an example of professionalism. No matter how busy you were you always had the time to listen to my queries and get the work done in the most professional and thorough manner. I also enjoyed our chats about trips and holidaying experiences every now and then in between work conversations. There will never be anyone with such enthusiasm and leadership like you Grant. You will be certainly missed. My sincere condolences to your family. Janneth Baquero, RMS.

Grant I was shocked into sadness this past Sunday evening on hearing of your passing I remain in struggle. You will no longer be there to deal with the many survey matters I raised with you and I will never again raise a smile to my face as I see the name Grant Kilpatrick' flash on my mobile as it rang to signal your call. You were the ultimate surveying professional mate no short cuts with you when it came to professionalism. I admired your professionalism. Your loss will be widely grieved within the surveying and spatial community but the deepest grief will be suffered by your loving family Ruth, Lauren and Ross.

Grant you were taken from all who loved you far to early in life. You were a loyal friend always willing to help others. We have shared many special moments with you and Ruth over the last 42 years. You were the only one who called me kiddo, and Juls, terms of endearment from a dear friend. You will always be in our hearts and our heart goes out to Ruth, your soulmate and childhood sweetheart and our dear friend and to your amazing children Lauren Eliza and Ross. So many memories of outings and trips away we have shared. Miss you mate....Julie and Paul, Seamus and Keegan.
