Dear Dixon family,

I'm not sure if you are still checking this site, but I came across it and wanted to let you know that I am very sad to hear of Greg's passing last year.

Although it's been many years since my family moved away from Sundance when Greg and I were in grade 6, I retain fond memories of playing with him in playschool and into elementary school. I remember him being the only boy at several of my birthday parties and can even specifically recall presents he once got me. Throughout elementary school I remember Greg as a very kind person who stood up for the underdog and have only heard wonderful things about him as he grew up.

I am sad to know that I won't be able to share these memories with Greg or that I never knew him as we grew up and into adulthood, but I am glad to have known him.

My most sincere condolences on behalf of myself and my parents, Barbara and Karol.

Dear Bill, Marta and Jane,

We are so sorry to hear about your loss. The stories that we have shared about our kids growing up will still be shared in the years to come, as they are memories that give us smiles. Greg will live in our thoughts and memories forever. God Bless.

Dear Dixon Family,

I am extremely sad to hear about Greg.

In recent years, our paths crossed periodically at U of C and we had a great time recounting past soccer-related memories. I recall one occasion (during one of Calgary's formidable winter storms) while waiting at the bus stop on Crowchild Trail a passing car swerved to the side of the road and the driver motioned to get in. Upon further investigation and much to my surprise, it was none other than Greg. I hadn't seen him in a couple of years and yet he went out his way and generously saved me from frostbite giving me a ride to the university. It is this sort of kind act that really separates Greg from others.

I remember Greg as a true friend and a genuine leader. His humour, charisma and loyalty will never be forgotten.

My most sincere condolences to the whole family during this difficult time.

We were so sorry to hear of Greg's passing. Jeff just found out today and he feels terrible. Greg was a great friend to Jeff growing up and he has many fond memories of him (as do we). Greg was always fun to be around and geat to visit with. He had a charming sense of humour and always a big smile. He will surely be missed. Please know that our thoughts are with you.

Dear Marta, Jane and Bill,

Sue and I are so very sorry that Greg is no longer with us but he leaves us with some very fond memories and we are thankful that we had the pleasure of experiencing his warmth, humor, laughter and friendship.

As his soccer coach I found Greg to be first and foremost a team player and he was not shy about protecting his teammates. I remember one incident in the Fish Creek days when Steve was ridden into the boards by a somewhat larger boy during an indoor game and within an instant Greg, realizing the injustice of this illegal aggression, raced across the field and unceremoniously flattened the unsuspecting aggressor. Although I couldn’t outwardly condone such an action I was inwardly pleased and opposing players did not take those liberties again.

I was pleased to see that so many people attended yesterday’s wonderful service, which was indicative of the many lives that Greg touched in his short but eventful life.

Although we cannot feel Greg’s loss as you do, we hope that you get strength from his memory and the fact that he was a friend to many people.

If there is anything we can do for you to help you through this difficult time you only have to ask.

Dear Marta, Jane and Bill,

I am so very sorry for the loss of Greg. Some things just don't make sense.

My memories of Greg were when he played soccer with my brother and were coached by my dad.

I always enjoyed going to watch those championship Foothills soccer clubs play. The straight forward way Greg played the game and most importantly, the way he routinely looked out for his team mates and put the greater good a head of his own was something that always stuck out to me.

The number of Greg's former team mates and their parents who attended Greg's INCREDIBLE service today leaves me thinking that I was not a lone in that observation.

Be extremely proud of Greg and find comfort knowing that he touched the lives of many - though his time with us was definitely all too short.

We are all with you during this sad time and ask that if there is anything we can do to help, you not hesitate to ask.

Dear Dixon Family,

I am so sorry and surprized to hear of Greg's passing. He has always been a pleasure to meet with, and to discuss the completion of his degree, and scheduling of courses.
The Haskayne School of Business undergraduate advising team is also very saddened of Greg's passing, and we were all excited to see him on the verge of completing of his Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Please accept our condolences on your loss, and may you always find peace and comfort in family, friends and prayer.

Dear Dixon family,

I am very saddened by such awful news. Greg and I spent a lot of time together before I left Calgary and I will always remember the talks we had. I can't imagine the pain you all must feel at his passing. My heart goes out to all of you.

It has been years since I went to school with you and I just heard the news.
It was always fun to be around you. Your quiet nature and tough looks led many to believe you were a fighter but getting to know you back in elementary showed that you had a kind heart, even to a "geek" such as me.
God bless you and may He help your family in this difficult time. Rest in peace, old friend.
